So, the "classroom" part of the school has come to an end. The group of 45+ students and staff was divided into roughly 8 groups. Some of the groups are staying here in Colombia and others have international destinations. I am currently up in the mountains of Colombia (no internet!!!). This past Sunday my team left Cartagena on a 12-hour bus ride headed towards Eje Cafetero y Valle (a.k.a. Coffee Zone and Valley). I am trying to attach photos, but to appreciate the beauty, you need to see it with your own eyes! I'll be drinking lots of coffee! Yeah.
Please pray for us as a team. Lina is from England, Carla from Argentina, Betty, Sebastian, Adriana & Laura from Colombia. We are all VERY different, but we compliment each other as a team. We all feel peace about the work we have ahead, but the truth is that it is us 7 for 2 months. Pray for our unity and patience so that we can really impact this region of Colombia.
Speaking of prayer, here is an example of the Spiritual Warfare that started at the very beginning of our trip. Like I said, we left Sunday night and traveled the night through. At 1am, I woke up with an immense pain in my lower back. I have back problems but this was like something I had never felt before. I got up and tried to lie down in the aisle. I couldn't move my legs because of all the pain. It was shooting down from my lower back. I started crying and my leader tried to help me. It was a hard situation because there really wasn't anything she or anyone else could do. To make a long story short, I threw up 4 times that night and the pain endured for over 12 hours. I had taken motion sickness medication, pain relief and my team on the bus was praying for me, but it wouldn't stop. In the midst of everything I truly felt that it was all a Spiritual attack against me and the team. We arrived to our first destination and my back was still in great pain. I could not stand up straight and was having a hard time walking. I called one of my good friends back in Cartagena and he prayed for me. 15 minutes later the pain ceased. God is good. He taught me a lot that night. Satan tried everything he could to stop our team from going on this outreach. The truth is that he is scared of what God can do with a group of 7 people that have decided to give it all for Him! He attacked me in one of the places that I struggle, my back. Spiritual attack manifested in the physical. Why am I telling you all of this after the fact? Thank you for asking!!! I want you to see that there is a Spiritual War out there. In Ephesians 6:12 it says, "Our fight is not against people on the earth but against the rulers and authorities and the powers of this world's darkness, against spiritual powers of evil in the heavenly world." Please join me in this battle. If this happened the first few hours of our trip, I KNOW that the devil is going to attempt many other things. To encourage you, this week up in the mountains was a complete victory. We had many times as a team that we needed to take specific things before God and fight in the Spirit, but we saw His support in everything that we did.
Thank you for all your prayers. I miss you all sooooo much!
Love You All!
Sylvia
