DTS 2012
To say I am excited about the school would be an understatement. I am ecstatic! I am still getting applications and requests for more information everyday, and the inauguration is right around the corner, on March 5th. 15 students have been accepted and more are in process, so I am hoping to have roughly 20 altogether. I have been getting to know them from afar, and everyday I get more excited to see what God is going to do in their lives in the next 6 months.
I am now in Lima, processing some paperwork for my missionary visa, and will be flying back to Iquitos on February 3rd. All the DTS staff will be at the base by the 2nd week of February. There are SO many things we need to do in preparation for the school, but I am excited to get my hands dirty and work alongside these AMAZING people.
As you may remember, this is something I wrote in my last Newsletter:
“It is not about a few people giving a lot - it is about a lot of people giving a little! The price of a weekly visit to Starbucks could help support me for $25 a month. If you could commit to more, great, but if not, “invite” me to a Starbucks coffee that can result in changed lives!”
Keeping coffee in mind, I thought this would be a fun way to let you get involved in supporting me as I serve here in Peru. In my “Cappuccino corner“ you can join the “Short Club“ at $25 a month, the “Tall Club“ at $50 a month, the “Grande Club“ at $100 a month, or the “Venti Club“ at $250 a month.
My monthly support goal is $854. Breaking it down, here is what I need:
Prayer Requests:
1. I mentioned the DTS staff in my last newsletter, but they are so important to me that I ask that you pray for them by name. Waldir & Maira (married in December), George, Magly and Ruby. Like myself, they all have a huge heart for youth and have their own challenges being on the mission field.
2. Please pray for all the students that will be arriving in Iquitos this coming March. Also pray for those that are in the application process, and that God would provide them all with the finances needed in order to come.
3. Please continue to pray for my mom and my family.
4. Please pray that God gives me the wisdom to lead this school, and that He would ALWAYS give me the patience and words to speak in love.
5. Please pray about joining my “Short“, “Tall“, “Grande“ or “Venti“ Clubs and be a part of my financial support team. Sylvia is in need of some “coffee”!
